Exclusive VDP Wine Experiences

Private tours and tastings built around Germany's most prestigious wine estates — in the Rheingau and Rheinhessen.

What Are VDP Wines?

The Highest Tier of German Wine

VDP wines come from members of the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter— the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates, marked by the VDP.Eagle on every bottle. It's an elite group of roughly 200 producers, held to standards for vineyard and cellar far stricter than German law requires, with sustainable practice built in.

The classification runs on one guiding principle: the narrower the origin, the higher the quality — four tiers, from a winery's whole estate up to its single finest vineyard. Tap a tier to see what defines it.

VDP.GROSSE LAGE®Grand Cru

Germany's most exceptional single vineyards, farmed to the classification's strictest standards — maximum terroir precision and real ageing potential.

“Clearly defined parcels, recognized for their exceptional quality over decades and centuries, farmed to the classification's strictest standards — complex, maximum terroir precision and real ageing potential.”

Grosses Gewächs — the dry wine from a VDP.GROSSE LAGE site

Any tier can also be made off-dry or sweet, carrying Germany's classic Prädikate — Kabinett, Spätlese, Auslese, Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein.

Vaulted Gothic hall inside Kloster Eberbach
The Monastic Era

Kloster Eberbach

From the 12th century onward, the Cistercian monks here shaped the Rheingau into one of Europe's most influential wine regions. Their focus on terroir and careful site selection laid the groundwork for the vineyards now classified as VDP.GROSSE LAGE and VDP.ERSTE LAGE.

1775 — A Turning Point

Schloss Johannisberg

A delayed harvest left grapes touched by noble rot. The monks pressed them regardless, and unintentionally created Spätlese — a style that became central to Germany's Prädikat tradition. Many of the sites involved are now VDP.GROSSE LAGE.

Sparkling Heritage

Weingut Künstler, Hochheim

In the 1800s Hochheim's Rieslings were exported across Europe, and producers began adopting Champagne's traditional method. Künstler carries that forward today — refined, terroir-driven Rieslings and exceptional traditional-method Sekt from top-classified sites.

A Thousand Years

Mainzer Dom

The cathedral rises in the heart of Mainz as a symbol of over 1,000 years of Rhineland history. Romanesque towers, sun-warmed sandstone, and a dramatic nave — steps from the old town and the Rhine.

The Vino-Ventura Difference

Why Choose Vino-Ventura

VDP Estates Only

Every tasting we pour comes from a member of the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter — the highest tier of German wine, and nothing below it.

Relationships, Not Bookings

Two decades of trusted relationships inside the Rheingau and Rheinhessen mean individually arranged appointments at estates that rarely open their doors.

Genuinely Small Groups

A maximum of six guests on tour and six to ten at a tasting. Small enough that the winemaker talks to you, not at a crowd.

German, Spanish, English

Guided in your language, wherever you have travelled from — and equally welcoming whether you are a sommelier or simply curious.
